FTP tunneling is an extension to the generic application tunneling mechanism. The FTP control channel can be secured by using generic application tunneling, but since the FTP protocol requires creating separate TCP connections for the files to be transferred, all the files would be transferred unencrypted when using generic application tunneling, because these separate TCP connections would not be tunneled automatically.
SSH Tectia Client has a built-in mechanism for tunneling FTP, and this option can be enabled in the user interface. See SSH Tectia Client User Manual for more information.
